Privacy Policy
The short version: Puzzly Duo has no accounts, and your games, records and settings stay on your phone. After your first win against the computer the app adds you to the leaderboard under a made-up nickname, which publishes only that nickname, your avatar, your level and your rank points; you can change the name or leave at any time. Matches played by two people on one phone are never sent anywhere. The app shows ads from Google AdMob and Unity, and the optional Duo Plus purchase is handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store.
1. Information kept on your device
Your progress (wins, losses and draws, head-to-head records, XP, awards, streaks and settings), the player names you type for a shared phone, and the optional display name and avatar on your profile are stored on your device. Apart from what the leaderboard publishes (section 2), we never receive any of it. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
2. The leaderboard
Puzzly Duo has leaderboards. You are added automatically after your first win against the computer, under a made-up nickname (for example "Quiet Rabbit 965") that you can change. Nothing is sent before that. You can leave at any time (see "Leaving" below); once you leave, the app does not add you again unless you choose to join.
When you are added, your device is given a random identifier, not linked to your name, email, phone number or advertising ID, and sends, every few hours while you play:
- your display name and avatar (names are shown publicly, so please don't use your real name if you'd rather not be identified). The names you give a second player on a shared phone are never sent;
- your overall level and XP, your daily streak, and your rank points in each game (wins against the computer: 1 on Easy, 2 on Medium, 4 on Hard);
- a two-letter country code, worked out from your IP address so boards can show a flag. We do not store your IP address. The same lookup suggests a state and city for your profile, which you can change or clear at any time;
- the state and city you choose on your profile, if you set them, so you can see boards for your city and state. They are shown next to your name. Leave them unset and no local boards are shown.
This information is shown publicly on the leaderboard in the app and on our website. It is stored on Cloudflare Workers and D1, which host the service on our behalf; it is not sold, and it is not shared with anyone else.
Game statistics (not public). With the same identifier, the app also sends, every few hours, counts of how matches went in each game (wins, losses, draws and how long they took) and how many reward videos you chose to watch and for what. We use these only to balance the computer player and to understand which features players use. They are never shown on the leaderboard, never linked to your advertising ID, and never shared with advertisers or anyone else.
Leaving. Settings, Leave the leaderboard deletes your record, your profile row and every score, from our server, and removes the identifier from your device. You can also email us and we'll delete it for you.
3. Advertising
Puzzly Duo is free and shows ads through Google AdMob and, outside the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, through Unity LevelPlay (Unity Ads, ironSource Ads, InMobi, Liftoff and Meta Audience Network). To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, these ad partners may collect:
- your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID, or Apple IDFA where you allow it);
- IP address and the approximate location derived from it, plus device and app information;
- how you interact with ads.
Your choices. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for consent before personalised ads, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings, Ad privacy choices. On iPhone the app asks permission before any tracking; if you decline you still see ads, just not personalised ones. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. Duo Plus turns off interstitial and banner ads.
Google's use of this information is covered by Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services. The other partners' use is covered by the Unity Privacy Policy (Unity Ads and ironSource Ads), the InMobi Privacy Policy, the Liftoff Privacy Policy and the Meta Privacy Policy.
4. Purchases
The optional Duo Plus purchase is processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your payment details: the store only tells the app whether you own the purchase, so it can be applied and restored on a new device.
5. What we don't do
- We don't create accounts or ask for your email, phone number or contacts.
- We don't link the leaderboard identifier to your advertising ID or to anything the ad partners collect.
- On Android, each leaderboard sync also carries a one-way hash of an identifier that Android gives Puzzly Duo on your phone, so reinstalling the app on the same phone brings your progress back. The identifier itself never leaves your phone, it is not your advertising ID, and it is deleted with your record when you leave the leaderboard.
- We don't use your camera, microphone, photos or precise location.
- We don't sell your personal information.
6. Children
Puzzly Duo is designed for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and ads in the app are limited to content suitable for general audiences.
7. Keeping and deleting data
Progress stays on your device until you uninstall the app. If you joined the leaderboard, your record is kept until you leave, which deletes it from our server straight away, or until you ask us to delete it. For information Google collects for advertising, use the controls in section 3 or contact Google. For anything else, email us and we'll help.
8. Changes
If this policy changes we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app. Features that are not in the app yet, such as playing on two phones or online, will be described here before they arrive.
